Ruhe is for the dreamers, the believers and the doers.
Finding the courage to show up in the world exactly as you are can be a daunting task but it’s okay to dream for more, believe in a brighter future and also be a constant work in progress.
-'Ruhe' Meaning - Quiet, calm, peace -
All of these words bring up something for me when I think of my ongoing journey of showing up in the world exactly as I am. For as long as I can remember I have been labelled 'quiet' a word that is quite often used as a negative when used in the description of a person. A word that I’ve always hated being associated with. A word that when used to describe me to this day, makes me recoil.
It's interesting to me that when we've been labelled as something for so long and felt like that something is a negative we will internalise it and we will wear it, whether we like it or not. And once everyone around us has shut the lid on the metaphorical boxes they’ve put us in it can be extremely hard to escape them, even if we’ve way outgrown them or never really felt like they fit in the first place.
In recent years I've been slowly finding peace in who I am and figuring out who I want to be and where I want to go next. And what I've realised is that, while I may be quiet, the world is very VERY loud.
In the noise there is definitely joy and love and connection, but to me, the negatives seem to scream. Screaming words of exclusion and abhorrence. Screaming that everyone needs to fall in line and live and be exactly the way we’re told to be. In this world, just being your self can be one of the boldest and most courageous things you can do.
That’s why our mission (in-spite of the world around us) is to empower you to be you, unapologetically and we hope that wearing your Ruhe pieces feels like an expression of self, whether daring, subdued or maybe even a little rebellious. You can show the world who you are without saying a word.
I don't think jewellery can change the world but I do think it can change your day. And at Ruhe, we're all for you! All for you expressing who you are and feeling empowered to boldly show up in the world.
